A site for botanists in Hampshire

Flora News submissions - guidelines

The Flora Group welcomes articles, book reviews, notes and queries on botany and botanists, lichenology and lichenologists in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight or a wider region.

Please email the text of your submission to the collator / editor (for the time being, Martin Rand). If using photographs or illustrations, include only reduced quality images with a caption beneath, at roughly the place you would like them to appear.

Please email any images for inclusion in the article at publication quality, with caption, to John Norton. An individual image should not be more than 5Mb in size.

Material can be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or Open Document (.odt) format. Please keep formatting to a minimum (bold text for headings and plain text for anything else). Tables and lists are acceptable if the content requires them, but please don't try to specify layout otherwise.

Plant names should be included as the vernacular name in plain text with all words capitalised followed by the scientific name in italics, with Genus name capitalised and species or lower name elements uncapitalised. For example: "Round-leaved Wintergreen Pyrola rotundifolia".

Locality names should be recognisable from an Ordnance Survey map or a street map such as OpenStreetMap. We choose not to publish private house addresses unless they are historical, and we will generalise these to the street name.
